| Invitation to Christ "For
God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes
in him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16
Making it through life without God can leave us feeling incomplete. In order to
fill emptiness that can only be filled with God we sometimes look to things such
as: money, sex, material goods, hobbies, relationships, drugs & alcohol, jobs
& careers, and entertainment. Still, at the end of the day, you are left with
a feeling of emptiness. You realize that many of the things that you use to fill
yourself only occasionally bring about temporary happiness, but do not leave you
with everlasting joy. The key to truly understanding the meaning of life
is knowing God through a personal relationship with His son Jesus Christ. By receiving
Jesus as Lord of our life, we are then able to enter into a loving relationship
with God and have eternal life in God's Kingdom. In John 14:6 Jesus proclaims,
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through Me."
To some, the concept of salvation or being born again
is perceived as strange, unreal, or unnecessary. This is true primarily because
it has to do with deciding to believe something that is intangible, meaning that
you can't relate to it physically. Christianity, a relationship with God through
Jesus Christ, is based on faith. The Bible defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 as
"the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen." This definition let's us know that faith is tangible because
of two key words in this scripture, substance and evidence, but
faith is tangible spiritually not physically. It is important to know that
you do not have to be perfect in order to enter God's Kingdom. Please understand
that no one is perfect and Jesus was the only perfect person to walk the earth.
One of the biggest misconceptions of salvation is that you must wait until you
remove all sin from your life so that you can invite Jesus into your heart. Please
pay close attention to this; it is very important. THIS IS NOT TRUE. You
must come to God as you are and he will forgive you of your sins. There are some
things that you can't change by your own will, but only when you invite God's
spirit, the Holy Spirit, into your heart. There are two key principals
that one must understand when it comes to understanding New Life with Jesus. These
are salvation and deliverance. When you pray to accept Jesus as Lord of your Life,
this is salvation. At the conclusion of this prayer, you instantly become a child
of God and you will spend eternal life in God's Kingdom. Salvation can be defined
as a change in position that will bring about a change in condition. It's not
based on a feeling, but accomplished through faith. Now deliverance is very important
to understand as well because all of the things that we do that are unpleasing
to God, including sins that we cannot overcome by our own strength, are removed
from our lives through the process of deliverance. Salvation is instant but deliverance
is a process, and deliverance is the element of Christianity that makes one's
relationship with God a daily journey. Romans 10:9-10
"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart
that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one
believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." There
is a reason that you are where you are reading this very text right now. It is
not too late to know the Lord. If you are reading this right now and you don't
know whether or not you've invited Jesus into your heart, and will receive eternal
life with God in heaven, now is your time to know for sure by praying the following
prayer:
"Jesus, thank you for
the opportunity to receive you into my heart today.I
believe that you died for my sins and God raised
you from the dead. Lord, please forgive me of my
sins. I desire to live life differently. Please
deliver me from anything in my lifestyle that will
keep me from being close to you. Jesus, thank you
for allowing me to come to you just the way I am.
Now I know without doubt that through faith I'm
saved. Amen."
